Scott Hastings’ Best CFB Bets – August 31, 2019
The complete slate of college football games on a Saturday is upon us and it feels like the smell of cut grass. You may be studying your book and seeing over 50 games, getting overwhelmed and going back into bed. I’ve made choices on five matches that may??make it a bit less difficult for you.
Without further ado, here are my favorite college football bets for Saturday
This line was moving down all week which has made me a happy man. I expected some movement in the direction following the devastating injury to Alabama middle linebacker Dylan Moses, who is basically the quarterback of the shield. Meanwhile, the running springs Najee Harris and Brian Robinson is going to likely be suspended for the first half of this match, while that will detour individuals, this intrigues me as I’m convinced coach Nick Saban will need some full-team repetitions with Tua Tagovailoa in the second half enabling greater chances to rack up the score.
Alabama averaged 45.6 points a game last year and using the Tagovailoa/Jerry Jeudy connection, I expect another offensive juggernaut in 2019, although the lack of Moses on the defensive side of the ball can create some gaps early on which Duke might have the ability to exploit and find some crime to help the OVER.
The Texas Longhorns have dropped to unranked teams which has frightened me away from backing them in the first stages of 2019. I have a lot of confidence at the offense of the Longhorns and the continuing development of quarterback Sam Ehlinger. Texas’ offense should be able to flex its muscles from an LA Tech team that must replace its entire defensive line and contains a first-year defensive coordinator.
It takes two to tango and like the Bulldogs’ defensive lineup that is revamped that the Longhorns have a new-look defense well . There are just eight starters out of 2018 that are not on the team this season, so surely there will be some growing pains for this youthful talented defense along with achievement should be found by the veteran offense of LA Tech.
I have been a little bullish on Michigan heading into this 2019 season coming from an Ohio State fan. This is the fifth season with the Wolverines, no more excuses of Jim Harbaugh, here is the group that you’ve constructed and I believe they get the year started off with a bang. Last year, also have a seasoned veteran squad and Michigan had four wins of 35 points or more.
The Blue Raiders played one ranked squad last year, Week 3 in Georgia, and has been swarmed 49-7. Josh Gattis is the new offensive coordinator for the Wolverines and should spark some life into what appeared to be a small stale crime at times this past year. Defensively, Michigan will be one of the very best schools in the nation and winning by 35 or longer in Week 1 shouldn’t come as any surprise.
The largest game of the Week 1 program of college football has a pair of ranked teams colliding at AT&T Stadium at Texas. There is a whole lot of hype surrounding Oregon and its quarterback Justin Herbert rightfully so, and heading to 2019. Since his Ducks finished 9-4, including a win over Michigan State in the Redbox Bowl, the senior threw for over 3,000 yards with 29 touchdowns and eight interceptions last year.
But, true freshman Bo Nix is not able to turn heads for Auburn. The two freshmen to begin for a Electricity Five group both went onto win the national championship in Tua Tagovailoa in 2018 and Trevor Lawrence in 2019, now I’m not stating Auburn will win the name , just that Nix isn’t any joke. Furthermore there’s already been seven matchups with rated teams and the home team is 5-2 SU and ATS in those games. The Pac-12 for a street team vs the SEC hasn’t had a win since 2009 and is 6-13 SU 8-10-1 ATS.
I needed to have one underdog on the list and I’m looking at the West Coast for this one. The Huskies are bringing in an FCS group in Eastern Washington for its very first evaluation and the line reveals the disparity between the colleges. I think that is a line good enough to jump with??the Eagles coming from a strong showing in 2018.
Eastern Washington appeared from the FCS championship game and had the crime in the FCS, but lost to North Dakota State. They have eight starters along with the app in the past has proved to be difficult against Washington. The Huskies have a quarterback that is brand new , new running general and had to substitute nine novices. Washington might stumble from the gate mixed with all the crime of the Eagles and ranked 88th in crime and that’s why I am backing Eastern Washington.
