MATCHES TO MAKE FOLLOWING UFC 212

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the eight years in promotional background last Saturday (June 3, 2017) with UFC 212: Aldo vs. Holloway. It was a solid night of scraps which saw nine of 12 bouts ending within the space, and with the fights currently in our rear perspective, let us look at some possible matchups featuring a few of the competitors from the evening…
Max Holloway vs. Frankie Edgar
Holloway dethroned Jose Aldo to turn into new king at 145 pounds, and for his first official name defense, I think it would make most sense for him to take on Frankie Edgar, as that’s a matchup fight fans have been wanting to see for a little while now. Another potential candidate to get a title shot at Cub Swanson, but his last loss came in the hands of Holloway at a very critical fashion. That is not a fight that peaks the interest of fight fans, as Holloway would be anticipated to be a huge favorite. The Edgar fight is one where anything could happen, so everyone would like to see it. I believe this potential featherweight title would would be a great fit to primary event UFC 216 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Claudia Gadelha vs. Rose Namajunas
Gadelha made brief work of Poland’s Karolina Kowalkiewicz, beating her from rear-naked choke entry in the very first form of activity. She now enjoys a two-fight winning streak, and for her next excursion within the Octagon, I want to see her take on Namajunas at a title eliminator. Both fighters earned rapid victories in their latest bouts, so I would like to see them create a fast turnaround to co-main occasion August’s UFC Fight Night in Mexico City.
Brian Kelleher vs. Bryan Caraway
Kelleher gained a first-round guillotine-choke entry over veteran Iuri Alcantara in what had been a picture perfect promotional debut for the 30-year-old, who employed his post-fight speech to request a Top 10 ranked opponent for a quick turnaround on the upcoming Long Island card at July. I believe an opponent that makes sense is Caraway, who hasn’t seen action as a split decision win over Aljamain Sterling just over one year ago. I think this is a pairing that makes sense for the two fighters and would be a fantastic fit anyplace on the Long Island card.
